Chances are you may have seen one of these little figurines, and it has brought you here. Perhaps you have questions, concerns, or looking for answers to some of life’s problems. Whatever the reason is,...we’re glad that you are here! So now let us explore who is Jesus??
You have heard it said that the world needs a little Jesus.…but what does that mean? Why does the world need Jesus, and why is HE so significant?
Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” -John 14:6 NKJV
Jesus is like the bouncer of the Club (Heaven). As you know nobody gets into a club without the permission or authorization of the bouncer! HE is given all authority to turn away anyone who is not approved. You cannot go over him, around him, or under him….you have to go “through” HIM!
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
-John 3:3 NIV
So what does it mean to be born again? It is receiving God’s free gift of Salvation through HIS Son Jesus Christ. We as humans have all broken God’s commandments and we are not worthy to enter HIS Kingdom by our own standards. God’s standard is PERFECTION, and we simply don’t measure up!
If we use the 10 Commandments as a general measure of God’s standard, we will see just how we do not measure up. Here are the 10 Commandments:
1.) You shall have no other gods but me
2.) You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it
3.)You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain
4.) Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy
5.) Honor your father and mother
6.) You shall not commit murder
7.) You shall not commit adultery
8.) You shall not steal
9.) You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
10.) You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods. You shall not covet his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbor
Ask yourself...Have I ever told a lie, stolen anything (even a piece of paper, pencil, or a stick of gum), used God’s name in vain (as a curse word or some other hollow usage), or lusted about another person?? If you’ve answered yes to any or all of these questions….then you are confessing to be a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart, and that is only 4 out of the 10 commandments! This makes you a sinner,….like everybody else on planet earth! You see, none of us can uphold the glorious standard of perfection that pleases God. Therefore we are unworthy of heaven, and anyone unworthy of heaven is not welcomed there. Rather we are all worthy of hell and death! God’s word tell us that:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” -Romans 6:23 NLT
We must ask God for forgiveness and believe that Jesus died in our place for the atonement/penalty for our sins. We must become born again. It is by receiving the free gift of salvation through faith; not of works, least anyone should boast.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” -Ephesians 2:8-9 NASB
“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” -Romans 10:9-10 NASB
Once we believe and confess this, we receive the Holy Spirit to live within us and become born again! The Holy Spirit gives us a new spirit, a change of heart, new desires, and transformation within,….we are now born again!
Without Jesus Christ, we will die in our sins. Trying to be good by performing good works, being religious, acting holy, attending church services, or even being baptized will not get any of us into heaven. Understand that good people do not go to heaven,... “Forgiven” people go to heaven! We and all our best works on any given day fall very short of the standard of Good. God’s standard of good is “Perfection,”… any thing less than that is far below God’s standard. Only Jesus and HIS righteousness achieves the perfect standard that God is pleased with. We need to receive Jesus, only HE can save our souls!
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” -Acts 4:12 NIV
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” -Hebrews 9:27 ESV
We don’t want to miss out on this free and wonderful gift of God. Without Jesus, there is no Heaven.
It’s all about a relationship,... not head knowledge! We can simply know about Jesus, or we can actually KNOW Jesus personally.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” -John 10:27 NKJV
I pray this simple Gospel message has found it’s way into your heart and that you have decided to receive and follow Jesus. Begin by starting in the New Testament gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, then continue forward with Acts through Jude. I recommend reading the New Testament through a few times before reading the Old Testament.(Save the book of Revelation for last) By doing so you will you be able to find Jesus all throughout the scriptures, and see that all scripture and all prophecy point to HIM.
Know Him first, then grow in Him as you read His word!
